When furnishing a home, there can be a natural desire to get it finished.

Less for the sake of intention rather than minimalism. A home should still feel warm, layered, and lived in. We simply believe it's worth waiting for pieces that serve a purpose, feel right in the room, and genuinely add something to the way you live.

Give a Room Some Breathing Room

Furniture needs space around it.

A beautiful chair becomes more noticeable, slightly independent from other furnishings. A dining table feels more inviting when there's room to move around it. A well-designed room can feel more distinctive when each piece has room to be appreciated.

When furnishing a room, we suggest beginning with pieces you'll use the most.

Pick your perfect sofa. Choose a dining table that works for everyday meals as well as a house full of guests. And a lounge chair that becomes everyone's favorite place to read and relax.

Think about how you live, and how you want a room to feel and function.

Once those important pieces are in place, give yourself some time; you may discover that the room needs far less than you originally thought.

It's Okay to Wait

Perhaps this is the part we believe in most.

You can give yourself time to finish your home.

Living with a space for a while lets you understand it better. You learn where everyone naturally sits and gathers, where another lamp would be useful, and whether that empty corner really needs something after all.
